Arizona Department of Public Safety Receives $42,000 Drag Racing Enforcement Grant

The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZ DPS) has been awarded $42,000 in grant funding from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (AZ GOHS) to support enforcement efforts targeting illegal street and highway racing across Arizona. This funding, provided through the Drag Racing Fund established under A.R.S. §28‑603 and §28‑708, will be used for overtime and personnel expenses to conduct focused enforcement details statewide.

Illegal street racing remains a persistent threat to public safety. In 2025, AZ DPS troopers issued thousands of criminal speed and reckless driving citations and impounded more than 3,000 vehicles, highlighting the continued need for targeted enforcement.

AZ DPS appreciates its ongoing partnership with AZ GOHS and remains committed to reducing dangerous driving behavior and improving roadway safety for all motorists.
